The only choice to collect a deviation is to FAV it, even if it's not quite a favorite. But if someday we had more than one way to collect something, I'd chose SAV and RAV as choices too.
My collections include many items collected ("faved") because of their ideas or for comparisons, and even some because they're my favorite images.
What's the difference between a FAV and a SAV? A good example:
BOTH of the following two collections I've created feature the wonderful work of IGOR SIWANOWICZ

I REALLY LIKE these photographs so I FAVed them!

FAQ #6: What is the Collections Feature and how do I use it?I've sorted my collections into folders in a manner that the names and descriptions of the folders tell me (and anyone else) why I collected them.
1) RAVs [read as RAVE] are the ones I wish I could buy and would love to have hanging on a wall. Because RAVs are rare there can never be more than 10. Add one & remove one, that kind of thing. Here are my RAVs.
[link] What's in your RAVs?
2) FAVs are photos I really like and usually the folder explains why I collected it. My FAV collections give me pleasure when I view them in the "SitBack" option on full screen view. Many FAVs I've also downloaded and added to my desktop screensaver for my further personal pleasure.
3) SAVs are photos that have sparked an idea, a thought, a joke, an inspiration and I want to keep tabs on these photos for now, hence I save them. For example, see the egg jokes:

4) NAYs are photos I like but they're almost, but not quite perfect. It's my way of note taking and learning. If you are bothered to find one of your works included as a NAY, please privately Note me to ask why. It may not be what you think, after all, I liked it in the first place. Maybe it's only that the water's horizon defies physics.

These four simple categories work for me so far. I'm not in favor of a subjective rating system due to the immense number of items contained within DA. Besides, when I look at critiques, everyone rates photos at 3 stars or above. That's grade inflation to me. Admit it, how many 1s and 2s have you seen? Anyone heard of a bell curve?
I welcome comments about my attempt at creating chaos out of collecting. Tell me please how you do it.
And, in closing, here is how one DA photographer has cleverly created order out of his gallery by building an INDEX.

You have some very nice work.
How many lenses do you use? You sure get some nice, crisp, closeups.
